"eHealth will open the door to more easily accessible and better quality health care. It can reduce errors, speed up treatment and offer important cost savings." the Commission of the European Communities
It is in this spirit that "eHealth for Regions" pioneers a common
Baltic Sea eHealth Area. The project brings together relevant actors
from all the regions and involves those who are concerned with health
systems as well as regional development. "eHealth for Regions" goal is
to improve the quality of health in the regions of the Baltic Sea Area
by the application of information and communication technologies.
The
project partners have carried out many activities in the last years,
e.g. a Regional Need Analysis in five countries asking decision
makers, health care actors and patients about their eHealth acceptance
and awareness. Furthermore the network partners defined co-operation fields like eCardiology,
eRadiology and cross-border exchange of patient information, in which
they work together finding common solutions. As
support of the project a Political Strategic Board was formed which
consists of representatives of the highest political levels in the
partner regions.
More information you find in our results section, i.e. a video about ECG devices at home (HemEKG). Download here the summary of the results and the report
"eHealth as a facilitator of transnational cooperation on health"
reflecting ideas and experiences on how eHealth can be the necessary
tool for such co-operations.
