Short description
In matters of policy for state-regulated or statutory health insurance, the expertise of AOK is particularly valued in the political arena. As the largest health insurance provider in Germany, we provide coverage for some 37% of the population, both insured members and their dependents. The AOK in Schleswig-Holstein has more than 800,000 members and 2,150 employers.
Social insurance can be subdivided into the categories of health, pension, accident, unemployment and nursing care insurance. This order also reflects the evolution of the social insurance system.
The AOK and her partners initiate and support several innovative e-health projects using modern Telemedicine. In cooperation with the Telemedicine Center in Bad Segeberg (TSGZ) they introduced the ischemia home monitoring to reduce the pre hospital phase or home care monitoring for CHF patients. The TSGZ will be upgraded to an international Multilanguage Telemedicine Center in order to fulfil the needs of the Interreg III B partner.
