Viborg County

Short description

Viborg county was one of 14 counties in Denmark. Viborg county occupied an area of 4,122 km and the fourth largest county in Denmark. The total population was 250,000 distributed between the 17 municipalities (2006).

The health service in Viborg County worked on an ongoing basis to improve the quality of diagnostics, treatment, rehabilitation and care.

There are five hospitals in Viborg County. The goal is for hospitals to provide treatment at a high professional level so as to avoid waiting lists.

General practitioners refer people for hospital treatment as well as for treatment at casualty wards.

In the health service sector there are 3,500 employers.

The work in structures and processes (WP 1) is integrated in the organization of Viborg County Health Service department.

Today there no Counties but Regions in Denmark. Region Nordjylland is an administrative region of Denmark established on January 1, 2007 as part of the 2007 Danish Municipal Reform, which replaced the traditional counties ("amter") with five larger regions.
