Medical care in the Skåne region About 28,000 people are employed in Region Skåne in the health, medical and dental care services. The region runs hospitals in Helsingborg, Hässleholm, Kristianstad, Landskrona, Lund, Malmö, Trelleborg, Ystad and Ängelholm, as well as Primary Care Skåne and Public Dental Care Skåne. The hospital in Simrishamn is run by private contract.
In addition, the Skåne region subsidises the care provided by private doctors and physiotherapists who work on official care contracts or through the Act of Medical Compensation.
Region Skåne has everything from primary care to highly specialised services that are developed in close cooperation with universities in the region. Receiving healthcare should be straightforward and undemanding. Everyone in Skåne is entitled to the same, first-class health and medical care. Region Skåne is responsible for ensuring that this commitment is carried through.
