Seinäjoki
University of Applied Sciences (UAS) is a multidisciplinary institution of
higher education and an efficient actor in education and R&D in the region
of South Ostrobothnia in West Finland. There
are 4,700 full-time students, 220 academic staff and 200 other staff.
Seinäjoki UAS has 21 Bachelor’s and 7 Master’s degree programmes. Three degree programmes are taught completely in English (BBA, Nursing and Master’s degree in International Business Management). Education is provided in the fields of Culture; Business and Administration; Natural Sciences; Technology, Communication and Transport; Natural Resources and the Environment; Social Services and Healthcare; Tourism, Catering and Domestic Services.
In its R&D activities, Seinäjoki UAS has concentrated on intelligent and smart systems and logistics; developing innovative public services; culture and experience production; and food technology based on the regional needs and special strengths.
Internationalisation is a strategic aim of Seinäjoki UAS. It has about 150 partner universities in Europe and 30 in the rest of the world. International cooperation is implemented between companies, public organisations and cities (especially the City of Seinäjoki) in the region. In addition to exchanges between academics and students, there have been conferences and numerous international R&D projects, especially in the fields of healthcare technology, eHealth and elderly care financed by Tekes (Finnish National Agency of Technology), the Ministry of Health and Welfare and EU programmes.
