Each county council has the overall responsibility for the health of the population in its area.

Healthcare insurance system

County council is responsbile for health care; social welfare to disabled and elderly individuals belong to the task of local municipalities.

Number of general practitioners, dentists and hospitals Skane:

1,000 general practitioners with 1,500-2,000 patients per p., 50% of families have a family doctor (free choice), 500 dentists, 10 hospitals.

Communication between different professionals concerning the single patient

Own national network, telemedicine projects between counties and counties municipalities, Carelink (communication, e-lak, e-mail, e-learning, and more like Görel).

Main realised telemedicine activities

Patient administrative System (PASIS), radiology administrative system, medical record, x-ray, surgery planning.

Main objectives

  • To improve patient safety, accessibility, quality of care enable patient mobility nationally and internationally.
  • To meet the increasing demands from citizens and healthcare professionals.
  • To encourage healthcare politicians and decision makers.
  • To use eHealth as the main tool for renewal and improvement of health services.

  • Bringing laws and regulations into line with extendeduse of ICT.
  • Creating a common information structure.
  • Creating a common technical infrastructure.
  • Facilitating interoperable, supportive ICT systems.
  • Facilitating access to information across organisationalboundaries.
