"ICT for Health" project: kick-off meeting in Flensburg

On the 4th/5th February nineteen partners got together at the University of Applied Sciences in Flensburg to initiate the new Interreg IV B – Project “ICT for Health”. eHealth-Experts from eight countries of the Baltic Sea Region discussed possibilities of strengthening social capacities to use eHealth technologies in the framework of an ageing population. This is a basic condition for the implementation of innovative technologies to solve present and predictable problems in the health sector.

The project analyses the impact of the ageing population on the health care systems, identifies and shares strategies in raising the capacity to utilize eHealth in prevention and treatment. Three pilot implementations will be developed by the project-partners: A comprehensive self-monitoring system for chronic heart failure patients, an educative application in order to improve the utilization of eHealth by medical professionals and citizens and finally, a multi-lingual personal health portal enabling citizens with chronic diseases to document their health data electronically, supporting their mobility abroad.
